HOW TO HIDE THE HARD DRIVES OF COMPUTER

                                                As we were discussing about the security issues related to our computer and I have shared on of technique to resolve this issue to some extent and now I am going to tell you one more trick that is to “HIDE THE HARD DRIVES OF COMPUTER”. Using this technique we can hide the hide drives of our computer so no one will be able to get access to our drives without our permission.

                                  If our drives are available to anyone then definitely there will be a threat for the stolen of data so any one can steal data from our hard drive that can be anything like our personal data and may be some type of our personal work or any type of research ,articles etc.

                So to make our data more secure from all type of external attacks we will hide our drive s that no one can have access to that.

                So let’s see how this thing will work.

Q: HOW TO HIDE THE HARD DRIVES OF COMPUTER?

                Use the following steps to do this.

1. Open (RUN)
2. Write (gpedit.msc) in it.
3. A dialog box will appear select (User Configuration) from left menu bar.
4. Then Select (Administrative templates)
5. Then Select (Windows Component)
6. Then (File Explorer)
7. From there select (Hide these specified hard drive in My Computers)
8. A dialog box will appear “Enable” that.
9. Click Apply & then OK.

                So it’s done. Go to My Computer and check the drives will be hidden.

If you want to show them back repeat the same process and “Disable” that option.

HOW TO BLOCK COMPUTER’S USB PORTS

                                                As we all know that in today’s cyber world there are many threats related to the hacking of systems. This things is spreading all around the world and many peoples are becoming victim of this Just because of lack of knowledge. Now a days the operating systems we use have lot of security features that we can use to protect ourselves from this type of attacks. To make this possible definitely we have to learn the use of our operating system we should have knowledge of what we are doing and what will be the result.

                                So here I will share some tips & tricks to make you able that you can protect your systems from some attacks J.

                                1^st of all the main issue which is the USB hacking (means hacking of a system using USB) we use USB’s to carry or transfer our data but we don’t know that how much of virus that USB contain or anyone else (i.e. Hacker) can use USB ports of our system to hack our whole system if he somehow enters our environment or our any friend can do this with us.

So what is the solution of this? Obviously, there are many technologies to deal with this but here I will give a simple tip which help us to get rid of it.

That technique is to “BLOCK USB PORTS”. When we will block our USB ports then that ports will become disable. So if anyone will try to insert a USB in that port the port will not respond to that. Finally he will not be able to do any harm to our data.

So how to do this things let’s have a look.

Q: How to BLOCK COMPUTER’S USB PORTS?

•         1^st of all open the RUN by pressing (CTRL+R)
•         Write (regedit) in it. & Hit ok.
•         Then a dialog box will appear. Then from the left menu bar select (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE).
•          Then it will further expand and then select (SYSTEM).
•          Then Select (ControlSet001).
•          Then select (Services)
•          Then from the list that will appear there search and select (USBSTOR)
•          Then a window will appear on right side having some type of files in it.
•          From there click on (START).
•          A dialog box will appear having some information.
•          There will be a box filled with value “3”.
•          Change that to “4”. (Base should remain Hexadecimal which will appear on right side there don’t change that)
•          Press OK

So now our USB Ports are BLOCKED you can verify this by attaching any USB etc.

Now if you want to ACTIVATE your USB PORTS go through same steps and just set that value again to “3”.
